Edit - Guys, It's 5am and I literally have tears in my eyes right now! A DD?? O.O I'm just...SAJhjkad! I have the best husband ever for suggesting this :iconlawdeau:, and if I knew how to insert emoticons I'd have a big teary-eyed one right here! And thank you so much :iconmaytel: for featuring it! Just...wow!

Find me on Facebook - [link]

I also need to say a big thank you to my friends Dave, Arthur and :iconzorgia:! This was made with 5,000 mirrored aluminium scales and I didn't want them to get scratched on my way to SDCC so I left the protective plastic coating on them. They sat with me all morning tearing off each individual piece (claiming it was therapeutic!) until we had heaps and piles of blue plastic coating stickers everywhere XD

-----------------

This costume was supposed to be my "Goodbye" to cosplay. I wanted to make something that, when I started out, I never thought I'd have the talent to do. It was meant to be my holy grail :)

Sadly, there are maybe three photos of this and they were taken while I was tired and sore. The airline destroyed just about all of it and I don't think I can bring myself to ever try to put the scalemail dress back on. The total cost was between $1,100 - $1,300 and it's pretty much all scrap now. along with the 5,000 scales in the dress! My photographer never showed up so the photos all blow :( It's heartbreaking when I think about the 6months it took to make this and it's just a pile of mess now so I don't know if I can find it in me to rebuild it.

If you do make it, PLEASE let me know and note me the links to photos :) I want to see someone succeed where I failed! :D

And yes, that is an awful photoshop job of trying to cut out my badge! Haha XD

(Shameless plug for my book trilogy in 3..2... [link] Whoops! There it is XD)

I'm sorry to hear about it getting trashed by the airlines, and then the photographer failing to show.  May I recommend you recycle the parts?  I've done that with my jewelry work when it's damaged beyond repair.  I just cannibalize the parts for new pieces.  When you're ready I think you'll find it in yourself to make something good out of this.

hey you didn't try, you succeeded. sometimes great work take a long time. what is evident is the thought and planing that went into your costume. be proud you did it. got proof. a few photos
